Donna Cassutt was an activist for the Minnesota Progressive Caucus before going on to become the Vice Chair of the DFL Party, according to the Progressive Democrats of America website.

The Progressive Caucus advocates among other things the creation of a Department of Peace and single-payer universal health care.

The State Central Committee of the DFL unanimously re-elected Vice Chair Cassutt and Chair Brian Melendez in 2007.
