Bill Owen

A former state senator, Owen is a consultant and lobbyist who according to FEC filings owns Assets Equity Group in Knoxville. While he has hosted a cable access show in Knoxville, he is perhaps best known on Capitol Hill for a 1991 traffic stop. Owen had recently been defeated for re-election when he was pulled over by a Knoxville policeman for driving while intoxicated and public exposure. He beat the rap in trial – or rather limped to victory with two mistrials – but the story of that fateful night still lives on in the halls of the legislature. (source)
